The European fruit and vegetable market has fallen victim to the ongoing crisis in the Red Sea. This is his opinion Telegram– political scientist Malek Lipov shared on the channel.

Perishable goods must be delivered as quickly as possible as they cannot withstand the extra 15-20 days of shipping around Africa rather than going through Suez, the report said. Farmers in Italy, Spain and Greece suffered the most. The export of Italian apples worth $400 million to Saudi Arabia was stopped, and the trade in pears and cabbage was also frozen because they spoil quickly.

Lipov writes that there will now be a surplus of agricultural products on the European market, which will be another reason for farmers’ protests. He also believes that this will be an additional blow to Ukrainian lobbyists because it will be even more difficult for them to lobby for Ukrainian grain to reach Europe.

The Red Sea crisis is also affecting the transportation of raw materials and goods from Asia and the Middle East to Europe. Some European companies, including IKEA, are already experiencing shortages.

The political scientist writes that large supermarkets in Europe and Britain are still trying to avoid this situation with empty shelves, but if the crisis continues for months, the situation will worsen. According to the expert, the Houthis and Iran are not yet ready to make concessions and negotiate through their own channels with Joe Biden, who has already turned into a “lame duck”.

Lipov emphasized that the Western coalition does not have enough real power to defeat the Houthis and that the Pentagon’s capabilities are overloaded. “British ships sent to the region can barely defend themselves. “They are afraid to send aircraft carriers because there are not enough sailors and they constantly malfunction,” he writes on his expert channel.

He believes that as a result of this crisis, the costs of transporting goods have increased and global trade has suffered.

28 January British destroyer reflected Another Houthi drone attack in the Red Sea.

Formerly Houthis announced It concerns the intention to attack merchant shipping in the Red Sea every 12 hours.
