Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyuun-Erdene said that he doubts that the construction of the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline will start in 2024. He told this to the newspaper Finance Times.
According to Oyun-Erdene, Mongolian officials expect the construction of the natural gas pipeline to start in 2024, but Russia and China need to study the economic component of the project and agree on many details of the project.
“The Chinese and Russian sides are still making calculations, evaluations and working on economic interests,” the Prime Minister said.
Before that, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak in his article in Energy Policy magazine WroteIt was stated that Russia continues to direct its gas exports to new markets, focusing on countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to him, Russia is rapidly increasing gas supplies to China through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline.
Previously European Commission announced about plans to phase out Russian gas by the end of the decade.
