Ukrainian authorities plan to sell two state banks to foreigners

According to the newspaper, Deputy Chairman of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine Yuriy Draganchuk said that Kiev plans to sell two Ukrainian state banks to foreign investors (Ukrgasbank and Sense Bank). “Kommersant”.

According to Draganchuk, there has been interest from foreign investors in Ukrgasbank and Sense Bank since last autumn. Therefore, these state-owned banks are actively preparing for sale.

The official stated that the Ministry of Finance will soon select financial advisors for these banks. Draganchuk emphasized that the Ukrainian government, together with the World Bank, is preparing laws that will make the sales procedure more transparent.

Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine said that the country’s authorities do not rule out the sale of Privatbank in the future. He said the government remained committed to its strategy of reducing the banking sector.
