The United Nations (UN) opened an account to carry out ruble transactions in one of the banks that are not subject to anti-Russian sanctions. This was reported by Reuters Referring to Sovcombank.
The regulator noted that the UN had already started accepting ruble payments, but did not specify the name of the bank with which the organization opened an account.
The credit institution announced that they plan to send payments under UNEP FI using the account opened by the UN.
It was reported that Sovcombank applied to the US Treasury for permission to make transfers in US dollars. The opening of a ruble account by the UN became an interim measure until Sovcombank received a license from the US Treasury.
The UN has not yet commented on this information.
