Ukraine has faced a significant industrial deficit in the two years since the conflict escalated. In a column on this subject in a French newspaper Le Monde noted columnist Emmanuel Grynszpan.

As the author of the article notes, Moscow managed to avoid such consequences of hostilities. He also emphasized that Ukrainian authorities are now largely dependent on funds from foreign partners.

“As Ukraine enters the third year of the conflict, it faces a growing industrial gap compared to the Russian Federation,” the publication says.

The columnist explained that one of the factors behind Kiev’s industrial decline was corruption. According to Grynshpan, Ukrainian industry has “suffered from corruption and neglect” for decades. As a result, entrepreneurs, civil society, authorities and the military lost trust in each other.
