Boris Titov, Russian Presidential Commissioner for the Protection of Entrepreneurs’ Rights, explained why pessimistic predictions regarding the country’s economy did not come true. This was reported by RIA News.
According to the business ombudsman, all expectations for 2023 were “largely negative”. As he put it, with each passing day the situation seemed only to “get worse and worse.”
“But these gloomy predictions did not come true. Today we maintain a stable economic situation. After the sanctions, job opportunities continued, and I think that’s the main thing,” Titov said.
He noted that recently the Russian Federation has learned to produce “a lot of things”, while the Russian economy is “rapidly restructuring itself by replacing imports in a number of important areas.”
As the business ombudsman noted, this happened because the country’s economy has long been transformed into a market economy.
“If we were not a market economy, we would not be able to adapt so quickly to the difficult geopolitical situation we are in, that’s for sure,” he said.
Titov added that there was still “a lot” to be done and that there were enough positions that Russia was “still seriously behind.”
