FT: European Union could lose more than $2 billion due to expired coronavirus drugs

By February 2024, European countries could lose up to $2.2 billion due to expiration of coronavirus drugs. A British newspaper reported this based on data from the Airfinity analytics group. Finance Times (FT).

According to Airfinity, the UK, France, Spain and Italy have already lost approximately 1.1 billion dollars due to the expired Paxlovid vaccines of the American company Pfizer. By February, the number of expired drugs will be 3.1 million courses. This oversupply of vaccines is associated with large government orders, as well as tight control over the population’s access to this medicine.

In response, Pfizer described the mass liquidation of expired coronavirus vaccines as an inevitable consequence of the pandemic.
