BitRiver financial analyst Vladislav Antonov called the elimination of commissions to banks for transfers between accounts through the Fast Payments System of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation an important and positive step. This is his opinion expressed In an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.

According to the analyst, such a measure will, firstly, accelerate the development of SBP in the country, and secondly, reduce the costs of banks. As a result, they will promote SBP more actively and the number of system users will increase by 15-25%. Increasing digitalization of payments and decreasing share of cash in the economy are two other consequences of the Central Bank decision.

SBP was launched on January 28, 2019 by the Central Bank and the National Payment Card System. Using the service, you can send a money transfer to yourself or another person via phone number via the bank’s mobile application. You can also pay for your purchases in the store via SBP using the QR code.

According to the Central Bank, in the third quarter of 2023, one in every two people living in Russia used transfers to the SBP, and one in three used payments for goods and services. In July-September, citizens carried out 1.9 billion transactions worth 8.3 trillion rubles through the SBP. The growth in indicators in this quarter was 15% and 19%, respectively. On average, a citizen made 17 transfers and paid 10 purchase fees through SBP in the third quarter of 2023. The number of retail outlets accepting payments via QR code increased to 1.3 million (plus 20% for the quarter).
