Many Russians think that the inflation rate in the country exceeds official figures. This was reported byTASS citing financial market survey data.
This opinion is shared by 66% of those surveyed. Despite this, a third (34%) of respondents believe that prices have increased slightly recently.
At the same time, 45% of respondents regularly try to independently calculate inflation by comparing the prices of goods in consumer baskets with prices in previous months. The remaining 55% state that a larger portion of their wages is now spent on food.
“Official data causes ongoing debate among the public. There is nothing suspicious in this: according to Rosstat, official values reflect the “average of the room”, and the consumer basket of a particular person may differ significantly from popular products and services,” said Yaroslav Bajurak, director of Vyberu.ru.
3 thousand adult Russians under the age of 60 participated in the survey.
