If Russians transfer money to an unfriendly country, they need to be prepared for the fact that the funds may be stuck indefinitely. Natalya Demidova, specialist in the Department of Payment Systems and Payments of the Main Directorate of the Central Federal District of the Bank of Russia, told socialbites.ca about this.

“The success of a transfer transaction depends on how the business is organized between the sending bank and the receiving bank. Demidova stated that the bank requires documents confirming the source of the funds, and if the person cannot prove that the money was received honestly, the transaction may be blocked.

According to him, Russians will now be able to transfer money abroad via bank transfer (by mobile phone number, bank account number, to a card or in cash). Other methods – Fast payment system, money transfer services, opening an account in a foreign bank (including intermediaries). Demidova explained that you can now send money to four countries through SBP.

“When traveling abroad, it is better to take cash. Mir cards are accepted in 10 countries, work on two more cards is ongoing, and UnionPay cards are accepted in 181 countries. In some countries, you can only pay for your purchases with a Mir card, while in others you can withdraw cash. It would be better to clarify these nuances before the trip,” the expert said.

During the month, Russians and non-residents from friendly countries cannot transfer more than $1 million per month or the equivalent amount in another currency from Russia to their own account or to another person abroad. You can transfer up to 10 thousand dollars or its equivalent in another currency within a month through companies that provide money transfer services without opening an account. There are also restrictions on the export of cash: a person cannot receive more than 10 thousand dollars or the equivalent of this amount in another currency. This restriction does not apply to money in bank accounts, the rest depends on which country one decides to go to.

Previously happened It is known how much Russians’ accounts abroad have increased.
