The main producers of sparkling wines in the Russian Federation are the Southern Federal District with a 65% share, and the Krasnodar Territory takes a leading position with a total share of 78% of the total champagne production in the region. Next comes the Northwest Federal District with a 17% share, with the top three closed by the non-traditional wine producing region – the Northwest Federal District produces 14% of the total volume.
In the January-July 2023 period, sparkling wine imports to Russia increased by 61% in value and 46% in physical terms compared to the same period in 2022. The main exporters of champagne to the Russian Federation are Italy – 71% of total imports, France with 14% and Spain in third place with a share of 11%.
At the same time, the increase in import duties led to an increase in sales of Russian brands in the price category by up to 1000 rubles.
