It will be difficult for the Czech Republic and Slovakia to survive without Russian oil, so the countries turned to Brussels with a request to resume oil supplies from the Russian Federation. This was announced by Transneft President Nikolai Tokarev on the TV channel. “Russia 24”.
Tokarev reminded that the Czech Republic and Slovakia do not have access to the sea and do not have the opportunity to purchase oil from other sources. According to him, the Czechs have this outlet through another oil pipeline from Trieste (a port city in Italy – editor’s note), but in general they cannot exist without Russian oil.
The other day Slovakia’s Minister of Economy Denisa Sakova statedBratislava managed to obtain exemption from EU sanctions in 2024 to use oil from the Russian Federation to produce petroleum products. This exemption will save jobs at the Slovnaft refinery and increase tax revenues to the Slovak budget.
