Federal Customs Service reports tax collections on flexible export duties

Since October 1, when Russia introduced temporary export duties on a wide range of goods tied to the ruble exchange rate, the Federal Customs Service has collected about 117 billion rubles from such payments. In an interview with a TV channel on this subject “Russia 24” said Ruslan Davydov, acting head of the Federal Customs Service.

According to him, flexible taxes made it possible to stabilize the exchange rate of the Russian currency, while not creating a significant burden for business. Davydov summarized that since the beginning of the year, the Federal Customs Service has transferred more than 6 trillion rubles of customs duties to the budget and may well fulfill the annual plan of 6.46 trillion rubles.

Let us remind you that, as of October 1, variable-rate export customs duty has been implemented on various goods, from alcohol to tobacco, from metals to fertilizer. The size of the tax depends on the dollar exchange rate and varies between 4% and 7%.

As Davydov noted, FCS transfers about 29 billion rubles of customs duties per working day to the federal budget. Temporary export duties are designed to protect the Russian domestic market in conditions of fluctuation in the national exchange rate.
