Between September and November 2023, the number of purchases by Russians in the “health” category increased by 4% compared to June-August, and the average bill decreased by 30 rubles, reaching 1,958 rubles. This is stated in a study conducted by the Russian Standard Bank based on customer statistics (available from socialbites.ca).
While the number of Russians shopping at pharmacies in the autumn increased by 5 percent compared to the summer, the average bill increased by 27 rubles to 1,031 rubles. In the autumn, pharmacies took the first place in the number of payments made by Russians in the “health” category.
Citizens also contacted specialist medical doctors, including dentists and orthodontists, and medical institutions, including optical salons, as well as laboratories that performed tests.
The highest average incomes in autumn were in dental services and optical salons, at 9,312 rubles and 8,652 rubles, respectively. Moreover, in the first case, the average bill compared to summer decreased by 201 rubles, while in the second case it increased by 1,556 rubles.
“Autumn is a traditional time when active measures to strengthen the immune system and routine health diagnoses are taken before the winter season. Women pay for purchases and services in the “health” category more often than men. In the autumn, 56% of such card payments were made by women, while 44% were made by men. At the same time, the average “male” check is slightly higher than the “female” check – 1,873 rubles against 2,069 rubles, respectively,” the bank’s press service said.
The bank conducted the study in December 2023. In this context, all purchases in the “health” category from bank cards in the period September-November and June-August 2023 were examined.
