EU leaders considered, but did not approve, the European Commission’s proposed mechanism for the use of frozen assets of the Russian Federation. This is stated in expression European Council after the first day of the meeting.
“The European Council reiterates its call for the extraordinary private sector revenues derived directly from Russia’s frozen assets to be used to support Ukraine and its recovery and reconstruction. <..> “In this context, it is taking into account recent proposals for emergency revenues from frozen Russian assets,” it said.
The document also includes a statement on EU leaders’ commitment to support Ukraine and its restoration and to reduce the Russian Federation’s ability to support military operations.
