The decisions taken by the German government were effective in the increase in gas prices, the cost of which increased 2-3 times compared to 2021. This view was expressed in response to a request by Steffen Kotre, a Bundestag member of the Alternative for Germany group and a member of the parliament’s energy and climate protection committee. TASS.

Previously, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the increase in gas prices in Europe was due to Russia’s actions to suspend supply. The MP thinks these words are lies.

Cotre believes that the increase in energy costs has occurred due to the so-called energy transition, which is detrimental to the well-being of German residents. According to him, the peak of gas prices was reached only in August 2022, that is, six months after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. The MP claims that neither Russia, which wants to maintain supply, nor the war is effective in the increase in prices, but only the German Federal Government, which has a deficit.

A spokesperson for Alternative for Germany notes that Germany’s ideology-driven energy policy has resulted in gas prices in the country doubling or tripling compared to the long period of fixed prices before 2021.

In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, signed The law that puts the “take or pay” principle into effect in long-term gas supply.

Previously European Commission announced about plans to phase out Russian gas by the end of the decade.
