More than a third (35%) of Russians now track their income and expenses; 25% do this regularly. These are the results of a survey conducted by Anderida Financial Group. socialbites.ca also has them.

70% of those who keep a budget manage to save money. Only 30% of those surveyed who do not keep track of their income and expenses have financial security.

“Most of the time, family members over the age of 40 manage their budgets. As a rule, they have a higher or secondary level of specialized education. The overwhelming majority are people with a technical mindset who, in one way or another, work with money, numbers and calculations. Alexey Tarapovsky, founder of Anderida Financial Group, noted that people with a humanitarian mindset are less likely to keep a budget.

To record expenses, 35% of respondents use paper media, and 65% use special applications on mobile devices or programs.

On average, Russian savers find it ideal to save 20-25% of their income, but in practice this figure is around 15%. Most of the expenses are on groceries; approximately 40% of all expenses. The other 30% goes to services, 25% to goods and entertainment, and 5% to other expenses.

On average, Russians allocated about 120 thousand rubles in 2023; In 2022, this figure was at the level of 100 thousand rubles.
On average, citizens saved about 9-10 thousand rubles every month.

“Any economic shock encourages individuals to think about the future and create a safety net.
As practice shows, regularly maintaining the budget allows you to save money. Chaotic spending of money without accounting leads to the opposite effect,” Tarapovsky concluded.

The survey was conducted in December 2023. 1,523 people from Russian cities with a population of over 1 million participated.
