Two German companies that suffered financial losses due to their investments in Russia applied for compensation to the German government. The news agency reports that DPA.

Oil and gas company Wintershall Dea, formerly a subsidiary of BASF, had already approached the federal government with a similar request, according to the agency.

Now subsidiaries of Siemens and Volkswagen companies – railway equipment manufacturer Siemens Mobility and Volkswagen Bank – have demanded compensation from the government.

According to the Siemens Mobility representative, the company secured its investments in Russia by applying for the investment guarantee instrument provided by the country’s government.

Siemens Mobility is currently in contact with the federal government and the auditing company PwC, which will implement the investment guarantees.
