Russia and Japan have agreed on fishing quotas within a 200-mile zone in each country in 2024. This was reported by RIA News Regarding the Fisheries Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan.

According to the agency, hunting quotas will be reduced by 6 thousand tons in 2024, from 50 thousand tons to 44 thousand tons in the future.

Thus, Russian fishermen will be able to catch 32 thousand tons of mackerel, 10 thousand tons of Far Eastern sardines and 2 thousand tons of cod within a 200-kilometer zone of Japan in 2024. Cod catch will remain at the same level, mackerel catch will decrease by 8 thousand tons, and sardine catch will increase by 2 thousand tons. Additionally, the number of fishing vessels will be reduced from 89 to 79.
