Pharmacies can start selling soft drinks, health food, chewing gum, essential oils, clothing, shoes, sports equipment, socks. The document on the expansion of the list of goods sold in pharmacies was introduced by deputies from the United Russia fraction, author Izvestia edition.

Today, pharmacies can only sell medical products, diet foods, dietary supplements and some other categories in addition to drugs. Deputies Alexander Petrov, Oleg Ivaninsky and Tatyana Kusaiko want to add another 20 points.

Expanding the list of goods for sale, as conceived by the initiators, will improve the financial situation of pharmacy chains. The parliamentarians point out that the working capital of pharmacies will decrease in the near future due to exchange rate volatility, increasing lending rates, and changing drug supply conditions. As a result, the assortment on the shelves can be reduced.

RNC Pharmaceutical Development Director Nikolai Bespalov emphasized that the industry is struggling to expand the allowable range. According to him, there is a shortage of liquidity in the pharmacy market, which will reach its peak in the autumn. This situation led to an increase in sales in February-March and the ensuing recession.
