Delivery of the first Tu-214 aircraft was postponed to 2024, reports “BUSINESS Online” with reference to its own sources in the aviation industry.
According to the publication, Kazan Aviation Plant, a branch of Tupolev (KAZ), planned to produce and deliver three aircraft by the beginning of 2024. Sources indicate that an aircraft, the creation of which began before the start of the military operation in Ukraine, is almost ready.
Tupolev also confirmed the information that the aircraft would be delivered late.
“Firstly, it is not easy to accelerate, given our efficiency – previously KAZ produced an average of one and a half Tu-214s per year. Secondly, due to the uniqueness of the plan to scale resources to production (NWF money and bond issuance – about 84 billion rubles – editor’s note), the establishment of the relevant rules took much more time than initially expected,” said Vadim, general director of Tupolev Korolev.
According to him, they developed all the necessary measures to continue construction, but the deadlines had to be shifted to the right. He added that one aircraft is already in the final assembly shop, while the rest are still in the modular assembly phase.
