Sanctions against Russian shipping show that international agreements are hanging by a thread; the country needs to develop its own ports with direct access to the world’s oceans. This was stated by Sergei Ivanov, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on environmental issues, ecology and transport, at the Primakov Readings. TASS.
He expressed the opinion that the Russian authorities have not been sufficiently attentive for a long time to the development of some transport directions, including the Far East, North and South.
“Theoretical discussions are still ongoing that the Danish Straits may be subject to certain checks on Russian ships carrying energy resources due to sanctions,” Ivanov added.
He noted that so far these are just talks, but the possibilities of restrictions both in the Dardanelles and the Black Sea and in the Danish Straits and the Baltic Sea show that Russia should, first of all, develop ocean ports. We guarantee free access to the world’s oceans.
Russian President Vladimir Putin in July statedRussia is actively involved in redirecting transport and logistics flows towards countries of the global South, including Africa.
