The Russian Council of Ministers decided to extend quotas on mineral fertilizer exports from Russia for another six months; These quotas will now be valid until May 31, 2024. Relating to resolutionIt was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, published on the legal information portal.
According to the document, the total export quota will be 16.95 million tons, including 9.81 million tons of nitrogenous fertilizers and 7.14 million tons of complex fertilizers.
The government had taken similar measures in May 2023, when non-tariff restrictions were introduced. The purpose of the decision is to keep sufficient amounts of fertilizer in the domestic market.
The decision also states that the fertilizer distribution among exporters has been transferred to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and that the ministry must resolve this issue by November 27. At the same time, there will be no quotas on the supply of fertilizer to Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
