Transferring the Ukrainian economy to a war basis would lead to catastrophic consequences. This opinion was expressed by economist Alexey Kushch on the YouTube channel of Ukrainian political strategist Vadim Karasev.
According to Kushch, any attempt to build a military economy in Ukraine will end in “disaster” in a few months, primarily because the treasury will stop collecting taxes due to the sharp drop in the level of consumption of citizens. Since there will be no stores, cafes and similar places, there will be nowhere to consume.
He emphasized that the services sector accounts for the bulk of GDP and cannot be turned into a war ground. They estimate that cafes, hair salons and other establishments provide 60% of employment and the bulk of taxes.
