Sber announced the winners of the international artificial intelligence (AI) competition AI Journey Contest 2023, organized by the bank in partnership with the AIRI Artificial Intelligence Institute. Sber press service reports this. The prize fund of the competition amounted to 11.5 million rubles.
“This year, more than 1,300 data scientists from 20 countries participated in the competition, including Russia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan and others. A record total of more than 12,000 solutions were downloaded as part of the AIJ Competition 2023, the message said; This figure is twice as high as last year.
It is noted that the goals of AI Journey Contest 2023 form the SUPER concept: Power, Unique, Personalization, Equal and Recovery.
As Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sberbank, noted, competitions are an excellent opportunity to create advanced artificial intelligence technologies.
“This year we made a record number of decisions. But I was impressed by their quality rather than their quantity. This year the participants proposed non-standard solutions to problems that created serious difficulties. I thank all participants for their high professionalism and innovative thinking. This is a great contribution to the development of artificial intelligence for the benefit of society ” said.
Additionally, a cash prize of one million rubles was awarded to the best scientific paper in the AI Journey 2023 conference collection. The award was received by a group of researchers from Innopolis University and MIPT, consisting of Mikhail Rudakov, Alexander Beznosikov, Yaroslav Kholodov and Alexander Gasnikov, who presented their paper titled “Compression techniques for layer and gradient activations for distributed training of artificial intelligence models.”
In total, more than 270 applications were received from different countries to participate in the selection of the most pressing topics in the field of artificial intelligence. The expert commission selected 38 articles included in the collection and will be published in a special issue of the scientific journal “Reports of the Russian Academy of Sciences”.
