Sberbank temporarily suspended payments in yuan for corporate customers

Since June 7, Sberbank has temporarily stopped making payments in yuan. This has been reported RBCreferring to the press service of the bank.

As noted in the financial institution, such a measure affected corporate customers – those participating in foreign economic activity, making payments in Chinese currency.

The press service said the bank is currently working with partners from China to restore the settlements.

As the portal wrote Frank Media This arose “due to the policy of the correspondent bank,” referring to Sberbank call center operators. According to an employee of the call center, companies will now have to conclude deals through other partner banks, abandon their connections at Sberbank or contact other financial institutions that pay in Chinese currency.

Former Egor Zhilnikov, Chief Analyst of the Department of Economics and Industrial Analysis, Center for Analytics and Specialization of PJSC Promsvyazbank said about the benefits of buying yuan in the foreign exchange market.
