Germany cannot avoid short-term consequences due to the court decision prohibiting spending 60 billion euros from the budget. This was stated by German Finance Minister Christian Lindner in an interview. Bild am Sonntag.

According to him, the government will have to find other ways to finance the modernization of the economy and infrastructure. Previously, the German Constitutional Court banned the Council of Ministers from spending 60 billion Euros transferred from the anti-Covid fund to environmental projects. The funds were transferred in 2021 by the cabinet headed by current German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Lindner described this as a turning point that would be difficult in the short term but beneficial in the long term. The Minister concluded that we need to pursue a more effective policy at lower costs.
