The volume of imports of young wine from France to Russia decreased due to increased import duties on alcohol from unfriendly countries. This was reported by RIA News with reference to industry representatives.
According to Ladoga import manager Dmitry Zhurkin, this year Beaujolais Nouveau was imported 40% less than last year – 11 thousand bottles versus 18 thousand. At the same time, imports of other wines from the Beaujolais region increased by 2.3 times.
The reason for the decrease was the significant increase in prices for the end consumer following increased customs duties and logistics costs. However, the expert stated that Russians are still interested in this product.
Luding also noted the impact of taxes on the cost of French young wine. In this regard, the company released an analogue of its own production, which showed comparable sales.
