It is better to make regular payments – for an apartment and electricity, for example – through online and mobile banking rather than at a branch of a credit institution. This is half the price, Natalya Demidova, an expert in the payment systems and payments department of the Main Directorate of the Central Federal District of the Bank of Russia, told socialbites.ca.
“Many regular expenses cannot be postponed or canceled without consequences: payments for housing and communal services and the Internet, taxes and fines, loans and loans. Online transfers are always cheaper than at a bank branch. For example, for sending a transfer through a personal account on a website or through a mobile application, a person will be charged an average of 0.5-1% commission, and at a bank office – 1-2% commission.” he stated.
Demidova added that some banks offer customers the opportunity to pay using a QR code. If it is on the receipt, you can read the code with your smartphone via the bank application. The expert added that in this case all information will be downloaded automatically, you will only need to check all the data and specify from which account the payment will be charged.
“For those who are afraid of accidentally entering a phishing site or transferring money to the wrong place, there is also an option: payment through the government services portal. To pay for services, you just need to create a simplified account on the portal. To register, you only need your full name, mobile phone and email address,” said Demidova.
According to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, in the first six months of 2023, Russians made approximately 130 million transfers worth 693 billion rubles without opening a bank account.
