The first days of sales in November 2023 did not bring the expected increase in demand from retailers. This was reported by “Kommersant” With reference to data from OFD Platform company.

According to the company, there was a 4-7 percent decrease in the number of purchases in the period November 1-November 7 compared to the same period last year. Experts state that consumer activity is unlikely to reach 2022 levels following the results of autumn discounts. At the same time, the turnover of retail chains in currency terms increased by 15%, due to which prices increased by 12-20%.

Despite the decline in demand, retailers’ turnover increased by 5-15%, according to Anna Mankova, senior manager of CMWP’s retail real estate division. This is explained by last year’s high base, when demand was suppressed in November. In 2022, many Russians have already made large purchases in anticipation of sales.

In the Clothing and Shoes category, purchasing numbers decreased by 8 percent after an 8 percent increase in October. In the electronics segment, the decline was 7% compared to a 9% increase a month ago. However, there is no decline in all segments. Sports equipment sales increased by 25%, household goods sales increased by 12%, and jewelry sales increased by 3%.

The most notable growth was seen on online platforms, up 30-35% compared to last year. According to analysts, the real beneficiaries were the sellers. Ozon announced a record number of discount campaigns.
