European Union member states are considering a backup plan to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in case Hungary vetoes its current 50 billion euro financing offer, the agency reported. Bloombergby quoting sources.
According to sources, this plan will include national guarantees from EU member states to attract financing to the markets. They reported that a number of community countries are in favor of quickly finding an alternative solution to the allocation of funds to Kiev to increase pressure on Budapest. However, the sources added that Spain is in favor of a long-term financing plan for Ukraine.
Previously Hungary and Slovakia opposed Allocation of a 50 billion Euro aid package from the European Union to Ukraine.
Before that, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Alexey Sobolev statedHe said that the EU was ready to allocate only half of the planned amount of funds to Ukraine for next year.
He explained that this was €9 billion, not €18 billion “as planned”.
The total amount of aid promised by the EU to Kiev until 2027 is 50 billion Euros, of which 39 billion Euros should go to closing the budget deficit.
