British oil and gas company BP has started production in the new Seagull field in the British part of the North Sea. This is stated in Press release companies.

Seagull is the first new field connected to BP’s ETAP North Sea production project in 20 years. Part of ETAP’s subsea infrastructure was used to launch Seagull.

BP’s partners in Seagull are Neptune Energy and Japan’s JAPEX. At maximum capacity utilization, production in the field can reach 50 thousand barrels of oil per day. BP has a 50% stake in the project, Neptune Energy has a 35% stake, and JAPEX has a 15% stake.

The launch of the Seagull will allow BP to increase hydrocarbon production in the North Sea. The commissioning of a new field demonstrates the efficiency of the use of existing infrastructure in the region.
