According to Anastasia Bastrykina, head of the communications agency PGR, calls for savings are nothing more than manipulations aimed at increasing store revenue.

“In practice, every decision made by marketers in retail chains and physical stores is aimed at increasing profits. Therefore, all calls for savings are nothing more than a marketing tactic,” Bastrykina explained.

As an example, he cited “buy 2 for the price of 3” promotions, which are actually disadvantageous for the buyer. This was confirmed by Alexander Zobov, head of the marketing department of RUDN University: “Such techniques are always aimed at making the customer pay more for a particular purchase.”

According to him, goods separately cost the same price, but at the same time the buyer buys excess or unnecessary items and spends more. Another common technique is to compare prices when overpriced goods are placed side by side, Zobov said.

Therefore, experts recommend that you be careful not to spend extra money in stores and do not fall for marketing tricks.
