Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Industry Vladimir Gutenev says that a ban on manufacturers to use non-standard packaging for products can lead to higher prices: “lenta.ru”
According to him, combining package sizes will reduce buyers’ options and require additional costs from manufacturers.
“It is very important not to create additional costs for producers. We work to make our customers feel comfortable. <…> “We understand that the need to readjust production processes and spend on new packaging will result in costs,” he concluded.
Gutenev is confident that these costs will be passed on to consumers. Therefore, in his opinion, it is necessary to carefully weigh the benefits of such measures for Russians.
Before that, the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prohibited Change packaging volume for manufacturers of essential goods according to GOST. According to the new rules, buckwheat must be packaged in 500, 1000, 2000 grams, milk – in 200, 250, 500, 1000, 2000 milliliters. Restrictions apply to sugar, flour, black tea, salt, rice, sunflower and butter, as well as noodles.
