Moscow and Minsk do not have any unresolved issues regarding the construction project of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (NGP). This was stated by representatives of the state company Rosatom. RIA News.
In the statement, it was stated that the delay in the construction of the facility occurred due to the coronavirus outbreak and the current geopolitical situation in the world. At the same time, the goal of experts is not to violate security requirements, but only to accelerate the implementation of this initiative.
“We are closely interacting with Belarusian partners and jointly resolving issues that arose during the implementation of the project, including the timing of the commissioning of the second power unit,” Rosatom said.
Representatives of the state institution added that at this stage there are no controversial or unresolved issues between Moscow and Minsk. Employees of the organization also pointed out that a number of factors affecting the speed of construction of nuclear power plants must be taken into account.
First of all, we are talking about the status of Belarus as a country that for the first time decided to embark on the path of “major nuclear energy”. Rosatom also noted that the full lifespan of nuclear power plants, taking into account their downtime, is 80 years. In this regard, the Russian state company considers it normal to meet the customer halfway at certain stages of construction.
