In the period January-September 2023, the share of Russians’ purchases of household appliances and electronics from Chinese brands increased to 43%; This is 48% higher than the same period last year. This is stated in a study by Russian Standard Bank (available from socialbites.ca).
Chinese products have become the most popular among Russians. Domestic goods ranked second in preferences (29% of purchases), and European home appliances and electronics ranked third. Their share was 28%.
A year ago, Chinese goods were in second place in the preference of Russians, with a share of 32%, after European goods (38%). Home appliances and electronics of Russian brands took third place (30%).
As part of the research, the bank’s analysts captured 100% of the total number of purchases of the world’s most popular brands of equipment and electronics, from gadgets to refrigerators and washing machines, in mobile bank deposit slips. Data for three quarters of 2023 and 2022 were analyzed.
According to the Rabota.ru service, Russians mostly take loans to buy household appliances and cars. 26% of the country’s residents surveyed by the company did so. 25 percent used a loan to buy an apartment and 19 percent for renovation.
