The cost of finishing materials for apartment renovation in Russia increased by 5-8% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year. This was reported by “Kommersant”.
According to the Infoline analytical center, the price increase is explained by the weakening of the ruble, since more than 50% of the assortment in DIY chains consists of imported products. The publication notes that the greatest growth is seen in paints, varnishes and plumbing (about 30% in Moscow).
The cost of coating materials has increased by 10-12% in major cities since the beginning of the year. Experts attribute this to problems in logistics and increasing demand due to the increase in housing construction. According to Infoline forecasts, prices may increase by 15% by the end of 2023.
Industry representatives also note that a significant part of raw materials is still imported, so the devaluation of the ruble affects production costs. Kommersant also notes that manufacturers should look for new logistics routes for supply.
Last week experts guess Strengthening of the ruble to 80 and below per dollar.
Russians before promise a sharp depreciation of the dollar towards the end of autumn.
