Despite supply disruptions, Russian gas remains an important factor in containing rising energy prices in Europe. TASS agency reports this.
According to Davide Tabarelli, president of the Italian company Nomisma Energia, the fact that gas storage facilities in Italy are 97 percent full is a positive development, but if the winter is cold, additional imports and purchases will be required. The expert stated that without Russian gas and due to high demand, Europe will have to switch to portioned consumption.
Russian gas is still imported, although supply volumes from Russia are several times lower than pre-crisis levels. Currently, despite the increase in prices, their levels are much lower than last year, according to Tabarelli. At the same time, the expert noted that it is not possible to completely replace Russian gas and dependence on other suppliers has arisen, which have their own problems. Any event, as in Nord Stream, creates uneasiness in the market.
At the beginning of IEA week warned Europe that industry is under threat from gas.
They had called in Russia before border Possible increase in gas prices in the EU.
