Sber Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors Anatoly Popov said at the Sber business breakfast that nuclear energy revenue in Russia increased by 20%: “Energy of the New Day: Save the Today, Create the Future.”

According to him, Rosatom both works with foreign customers and successfully develops its projects in Russia.

“One of the reasons for this growth is the development of unique technologies that are not used anywhere else in the world,” Popov said.

As Alexander Shutikov, head of the Rosenergoatom concern, explains, the industry was initially distinguished by high technological dominance.

“But this has its challenges: nuclear reactors currently use a rare isotope, but this is a finite resource that can last 100 to 200 years,” he said.

The head of the concern said that Rosenergoatom is currently working on technology to close the nuclear fuel cycle, which makes it possible to create a renewable fuel source. Russia has become the monopolist of this technology, which can be implemented by 2035.

Shutikov emphasized that medium and low power reactor projects are being developed in Russia today.

“Reference designs of such reactors already exist, which will help develop solutions for regions with weak energy infrastructure, especially Primorye and the Far East,” Shutikov said.

Let us remind you that from October 11 to 13, Moscow hosts the Russian Energy Week, where representatives of federal authorities, heads of the largest companies in the energy industry and industrial organizations discuss current issues related to the development of the fuel and energy complex.
