According to the newspaper “News”, A new version of the bill “Russian shelf” has been prepared in the State Duma, which proposes to oblige stores to display primarily Russian goods to stimulate their sales. This law applies to both landline and online stores and aggregators.
According to the project author, the new norms should come into force on March 1, 2024. United Russia deputy Tatyana Butskaya developed this bill with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and it was sent to the government for approval.
The goal of the bill is to remove foreign goods from store shelves so domestic manufacturers can have the opportunity to grow. The bill applies not only to anchor retail but also to online commerce. Aggregators and online stores will have to ensure priority placement of offers for the sale of Russian goods. The share of domestic products will be determined by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
