Forbes’ ranking of the 50 largest foreign companies in Russia is headed by Frenchman Leroy Merlin, Japanese JT Group and American Philip Morris. The updated list for 2022 has changed by half due to 22 companies suspending or closing their activities in the Russian Federation. Kommersant writes that the USA still has the largest representation in the ranking.
Leaders in the ranking of the 50 largest foreign companies of Russia in terms of revenue:
PepsiCo, Elo Group, VEON, Metro AG, Mars, Nestle and Chery Automobile were also among the top ten.
In the previous rating, Leroy Merlin took second place behind the Volkswagen Group. The German company has withdrawn from the Russian market, the French company plans to do the same. To compile the rating, Leroy Merlin did not disclose its financial statements for the first time, so the assessment of the INFOLine agency was used.
Renault (third place), Apple (fifth place), Toyota Motor (seventh place), Samsung Electronics (ninth place) and other companies that left the Russian market were also left out of the rankings. They were replaced by companies from China, Turkey and Belarus. However, the majority of companies in the rankings are still represented by firms from “hostile” Western countries.
While the USA maintained its leadership (the number of companies decreased from 10 to 8), China increased its representation (the number of companies increased from 1 to 6). The ranking also includes five companies each from Türkiye, France and Germany. For the first time, companies from Thailand (CP Foods – 44th place), Kazakhstan (Polymetal International – 13th place) and Belarus (Trading House BelAZ – 38th place, Santa – 39th place) appeared on the list.
