Russian Mir cards are accepted in much of Venezuela, including the capital Caracas. This was reported by TASS Referring to the statement made by Alexander Shchetinin, director of the Latin American Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The statement was made within the framework of the international parliamentary conference “Russia – Latin America” held in Moscow. The event is organized by the State Duma from September 29 to October 2.
The diplomat noted that efforts to introduce the cards throughout Venezuela are currently ongoing. It was previously reported that Russian payment systems are actively developing in Latin American countries after Visa and Mastercard left these markets. Mir cards are currently also accepted in Cuba, Abkhazia, Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Korea and South Ossetia.
