Polish state oil company Orlen has urged Poles to refrain from buying fuel following reports of diesel shortages at some petrol stations. The problems stem from Orlen’s policy of keeping fuel prices low ahead of the October 15 parliamentary elections. This was reported by Bloomberg.
Due to the fear that prices will increase after the elections, demand for gasoline and diesel, which are cheaper than neighboring countries, is increasing in Poland. BP, Mol and Shell are recording increased demand and monitoring the situation. Shell has introduced a 100-litre limit for purchases from some gas stations in Poland. BP described the situation as “challenging”.
Brokerage firm Trigon Dom Maklerski SA believes that Orlen will not be able to maintain low prices for a long time and will have to significantly increase prices after the elections. The company controls 65% of the Polish fuel market.
Bloomberg in mid-September reported about the global diesel fuel shortage.
It was previously known how Russia imposed restrictions on fuel exports from the country will affect For import from many countries.
