The Chairman of the Federation Council instructed Gumerova to prepare a request to the FAS with a request to check on what basis this publishing house increased prices for textbooks so sharply.

“Why do we have a monopoly on the printing of textbooks? Maybe that’s why prices are rising? – said the speaker of the upper house of parliament.

According to him, healthy competition needs to be created, because in this way it is not possible to monopolize the market, as a result, prices and expenses of regional budgets increase. As Matvienko noted, there is a shortage of textbooks in almost all regions of Russia.

He also asked senators in new regions of the country to check this situation with textbooks. The Chairman of the Federation Council noted that it is necessary to provide real and concrete assistance to the new constituent units of the Russian Federation, so that textbooks should be provided to all schools there.
