According to the company’s press service, the Russian Ministry of Far East and Arctic Development signed an agreement with Rosneft on the sidelines of the VIII Eastern Economic Forum, under which the parties will develop projects in the Far East.
The document was signed by Rosneft PJSC Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin and Minister of Far Eastern and Arctic Development of the Russian Federation Alexey Chekunkov.
Rosneft is implementing many projects in the region that are of strategic importance not only for the socio-economic development of the Far Eastern regions, but also for the entire country’s economy.
The agreement with the Ministry of Eastern Development provides for the interaction of the parties with the aim of creating favorable conditions for the company’s projects, including geological exploration, exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Rosneft fields, development of oil refinery and other assets of the company in the Far East. Some of the company’s major projects in the region also include the construction of the Zvezda shipbuilding complex in the Primorsky Territory, the establishment of the Primorsky Metallurgical Plant and the Engineering Center on Russky Island. The company’s socially significant projects include housing construction in the Far Eastern regions, a comprehensive program for the development of human resources and support of educational and scientific programs.
The parties also agreed to organize joint events to attract qualified personnel to businesses in the region.
