Ukrainian Energoatom company signed a memorandum of understanding on uranium conversion together with American ConverDyn. This is stated on the company’s Telegram channel.
“As part of the World Nuclear Symposium 2023 held in London, NNEGC Energoatom President Petr Kotin and President of the American company ConverDyn Malcolm Critchley signed a confidentiality agreement and memorandum of understanding in the field of uranium conversion.” says in the statement.
It was also noted that the document aims to support the increase in domestic uranium production at the Eastern Ukraine Mining and Processing Plant.
German Galushchenko, formerly head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reportednational company Energoatom received the first batch of American nuclear fuel produced by the American company Westinghouse. According to him, Energoatom loaded fuel into 440 reactors for the first time. Ukraine has also signed cooperation agreements with Slovakia, Finland and the Czech Republic. Galushchenko noted that in this way, the Russian Federation’s monopoly in this market ends.
