Russia’s largest mining operator, BitRiver, has attempted to assign its industrial OKVED code to cryptocurrency mining. The company sent a relevant appeal to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The newspaper reports “News”.
The designation of the all-Russian classifier of types of economic activity will mean official recognition of mining as an industry. It will automatically be covered by the requirements and norms in force in the manufacturing sector.
According to the initiators, this will make it possible to correctly regulate the activities of mining enterprises throughout Russia and establish the correct taxation in this area.
In addition, the assessment of mining as an energy-intensive industry on an industrial scale will help to plan the development of the country’s energy infrastructure correctly, taking into account its needs.
The idea was supported in the State Duma. The appointment of OKVED to mining may be part of the draft law under development to regulate this area, which is scheduled to be adopted in 2023.
