Traffic police on the Chita-Zabaikalsk highway intercepted a Ford passenger vehicle and discovered two bags containing cannabis among the belongings of a traveler who had been fishing with friends. This information was released on the official site of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Trans-Baikal Territory.
In the police account, the suspect claimed that while his companions were engaged in fishing activities, he had placed two bags of cannabis in the pursuit of some unusual plan, distributing portions of the plant as if bait to nearby rabbits before loading the substance into the vehicle trunk. Investigators later confirmed that nearly four kilograms of dried marijuana were contained within the seized plant matter, according to the report.
The traffic police, who detected the bags bearing the distinctive cannabis aroma, summoned narcotics officers to the scene to assist in assessing the situation. A criminal case was opened against a 58-year-old man in accordance with part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. If convicted, he could face a lengthy prison term, potentially up to ten years, for large-scale acquisition and transportation of illegal drugs.
In a separate incident from Dagestan, a social media blogger who uses a Niva vehicle reportedly made attempts to move between houses from a height claimed to be four stories, illustrating a separate episode of risky behavior that drew public attention and media reporting.
