Ships move in one direction in the Dardanelles

Turkish television channel TRT News He stated that the movement of ships in the Dardanelles Strait was restored in a one-way direction from north to south. However, on August 24, at 03:30 local time (Moscow time), the strait will be closed again due to the resumption of the fight against forest fires in the area. The strait was previously closed to two-way traffic.

The fire in question broke out in the forest area near the Kayadere Village of Çanakkale. About 1.2 thousand people were evacuated from nine nearby settlements, and residents were prohibited from visiting the forest area.

About 2,700 people, 639 equipment, 26 helicopters and 8 planes, one of which is leased from Russia, are participating in the firefighting. Fires in some parts of the region have been brought under control.
