About 30 regional retail chains from 25 regions of Russia will voluntarily reduce margins on certain categories of socially important goods, informs Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).
“[Сети] has undertaken voluntary obligations to limit its own margins to a level not exceeding 5% of the purchase price for certain categories of socially important goods. These include bread, milk, borscht set vegetables, sugar, poultry, chicken eggs, cabbage, bananas, apples, frozen fish, cheese, chicken sausage, buckwheat, sunflower oil, wheat and barley groats, baby food, cookies, “Toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, liquid soap, cleaning powder, hygiene products, batteries,” said caramel, FAS.
The agency noted that such a measure would increase the availability of essential products for the population. The Antimonopoly Service will monitor retailers’ compliance with their obligations.
